Tattoo Aftercare Guide

Updated: Nov 8, 2025

Getting a tattoo is a medical-grade procedure. Follow these steps to heal safely and achieve the best results.

šŸ›’ What You Need to Purchase for Tattoo Aftercare

  • Antibacterial baby foam

  • Fucidin ointment (orange label) — not the red one

šŸ“‹ Things You Need to Do

First 24–48 Hours

  • If a nylon bandage was applied, remove after 2–6 hours.

  • If a second-skin bandage was applied, you may keep it on up to 48 hours only (never longer).

  • After removing the bandage, wash gently with antibacterial baby foam.

  • Pat dry with sterile gauze or clean tissue — do not rub.

  • Don't apply any ointment or cream.

Days 2–14

  • Wash once or twice daily with antibacterial baby foam.

  • Apply ointment 2–3 times per day until fully healed.

  • Keep skin moisturized but not greasy — thin application is enough.

🚫 Things to Avoid (0–30 Days)

  • No sun exposure for at least 1 month (cover with breathable clothing or use sun-safe protection).

  • No soaking in pools, ocean, sauna, or steam rooms. Short showers are fine.

  • No tight clothing that causes friction over the tattoo.

  • No harsh treatments such as scrubbing, exfoliation, or chemical peels.

  • No excessive sweating or sports for at least 5 days (longer if irritation persists).

  • No scratching or picking as flakes form — allow natural shedding.

  • Avoid pets’ contact — they carry bacteria that may cause infection.

āš ļø Watch for Complications

Contact your artist or clinic if you see:

  • Severe redness or swelling beyond Day 3

  • Yellow discharge or foul smell

  • Color turning very dark or very light in patches

Contact us directly if there are any signs of complications

    WhatsAPP

  • If you have the tattoo on a moving part of the body avoid working out if you feel discomfort

  • Swelling may occur with new tattoos on your feet, ankles or calves. If this happens, you can reduce swelling by taking on Ibuprofen, applying an ice pack to the swollen area.
