WASH YOUR HANDS FIRST

ALWAYS, CLEAN HANDS BEFORE TOUCHING YOUR PIERCING

TRY MOVING THE PIERCING MINIMALLY IN AND OUT

BUY NORMAL SALINE

NORMAL SALINE AT ANY PHARMACY

Using Normal-Saline is the most effective method to disinfect the piercing during the healing process. It is effective because your skin soaks the mixture and disinfects the hole from the inside, which is not possible with topical agents.

NORMAL SALINE COTTON SOAKS

YOU MUST DO THIS STEP TO AVOID INFECTION

Take a piece of cotton saturated in Normal-Saline and place it on the piercing directly to cover the back and front of both sides. Hold it for 10-15 minutes. This step is essentially going to be done:

- every day for the first week.

- 3 days a week for the second week.

- once a week for the third and fourth weeks.

Precautions

BE CAREFUL YOUR PIERCING TAKES SIX MONTHS TO HEAL

If you think that once you do the piercing, everything will be ok, you are very wrong. In general, any piercing takes a reasonable amount of time to heal. Proper continuous care is essential during healing, especially for the ear cartilage.

DON'T CHANGE THE JEWELRY

FOR AT LEAST 6 MONTHS

Keep the initial medical piercing because you would want the healing process to be healthy during the first six months. We only use the best medical biocompatible jewelry, which is not cheap. That assures a safe, healthy piercing.

DON'T TOUCH IT

OUR HANDS ARE NEVER BACTERIA FREE

The worst habit is touching your piercing; it is there and not going anywhere. Touching will trap the bacteria inside the piercing, causing infections. Unfortunately, the symptoms will only show once it is too late. If you want to feel it, just wash your hands thoroughly before or wear clean, packed gloves.

DO NOT APPLY OINTMENT

IMPROVISING IS NOT THE RIGHT MOVE

Many people logically think that applying ointment will prevent the bacteria from forming or speed up the healing process. This thought is FALSE; the cortisone will speed up the recovery that builds excessive skin cells around the piercing; secondly, the ointment is oil based with ingredients that will lose activity. That will make the ointment act like a petroleum gel trapping the bacteria that cause infection.

BEWARE OF CLOTHES

MIGHT GET STUCK WITH FABRIC

Be very careful wearing clothes, and make sure that if you wear anything near the piercing, it must be clean. Hair and fabric strangled to the jewelry are tricky, as they carry dust and airborne bacteria that will collect on the piercing and cause infections.

AVOID CHEMICAL SHAMPOOS

CHEMICALS ARE HARMFUL TO THE SKIN

Alien chemicals touching the piercing will disrupt the healing process; try using mild antibacterial soaps that will be gentle on the skin.

DO NOT SLEEP ON IT

THE HEALING SKIN WILL BE DEFORMED

You can accidentally bump or touch the piercing while sleeping is common. However, sleeping continuously on it will shift the original placement; it's a must to watch out for your new piercing at the beginning of the healing phase. Firm contact may harm the inner tunnel of your piercing healing hole and cause irritation.
